What We Are Collecting

We welcome stories that reflect the "Middle of Always. In all ways." This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Celebrations of Strength: The moment you realized you were your own hero.

  • The Right to Choose: Stories of bodily autonomy, pivotal decisions, and the power of choice.

  • Ancestral Echoes: Well-told stories and fragments of memory from the women who came before you—mothers, grandmothers, and aunties whose magic was never written down.

  •  Radical Hope: The moment you chose light in a dark season.

  •  Quiet Victories: The everyday triumphs that no one else saw, but changed everything for you.

Note: This is a legacy archive, not a fiction platform. We do not accept romance, erotica, or "fluff." We are here for the weight and the wonder of real life.

Submission Guidelines

To ensure your story is ready for the Archive (and potential inclusion in our book series), please follow these steps:

  •  Keep it Focused: Aim for 300–750 words. Focus on one meaningful time or moment rather than a whole timeline. You are welcome to submit multiple stories.

  • Write from the Body: Use sensory details. What did the air smell like? How did your hands feel? (This is the somatic heart of our movement).

  • Story or Poem: Poetry is always very welcome.

  •  Choose Your Identity: You may submit under your full name, your first name/initial, or completely anonymously.

  • Keep Privacy Sacred: To protect the safety of this space and the privacy of all involved, we ask that you change the names of any living individuals in your story. You may keep your own name or use a pen name if that feels safer. If you are writing about your ancestors who have passed, real names may be used. We don’t use real names of living antagonists here because we don’t want to give them space in our fortress. This is your story, your community, and your page. We use pseudonyms to keep the focus on you, not their noise.

  • The Consent: By submitting, you agree to allow Army of Stories to feature your story in our digital archive and consider it for future print anthologies. You always retain the heart of your story; we just provide the megaphone.

“What if I don’t feel like a writer?”

We are not a community of professional writers. We are a community of women who write. It’s your story—your truth—that has the power to make history. Together with all of the sister stories on this website, and in our archive, we are part of the lived experience of women. Zero writing experience or training required. For inspiration, check out this inspiring Simple Story Guide, and simply begin. We can’t wait to read your story.
